ABSTRACT
Background : Esophageal varices were one of the liver cirrhosis complication that develop due to portal hypertension and correlated with liver severity staging and the risk of fatal bleeding.
Methods : A cross sectional study was conducted on Esophageal varices patient diagnosed between 2016 – 2020 in Wahidin Sudirohusodo Hospital who underwent FibroScan examination and Liver function test (AST/ALT ratio). Liver fibrosis scoring based on FibroScan examination according to METAVIR scoring. Both the AST/ALT ratio and the Fibroscan fibrosis scores will be compared statistically with Chi-Square method
Results : A total of 30 patient with Esophageal varices were analyzed, including 26 (86,6%) males and 4 (13,3%) females with a mean age 48 years (SD:12.6;range:20-69). The FibroScan result mean was 19.09(SD:14.3;range:2.08-53.2) kPa and with liver fibrosis scoring th result shown 13 of 30(43.3%) patient was in F4 stage. The AST/ALT ratio result mean was 1.2(SD:1.2; range:0.1-2) and shown 26 of 30 (86.6%) patient has ≥0.8 AST/ALT ratio. There was a significant correlation between Transient Elastography and AST/ALT ratio to Liver Fibrosis stage scoring(p<0.05)
Conclusion : The data showed there is correlation between Transient Elastography and AST/ALT ratio to Liver Fibrosis stage scoring.
